Redistricting Reform
Redistricting/Fair Elections Committee: GDLWV 2021 Annual Report Submission, 29 April 2022
The Greater Dayton League of Women Voters’ Redistricting/Fair Elections Committee was created in February 2021 to support the Fair Districts OH collaborative between Common Cause OH and the OH League of Women Voters by engaging and educating residents using printed materials, presentations, etc. throughout the community. These efforts were undertaken to ensure fair Congressional, Ohio House and Senate district maps were drawn according to the reforms passed in 2015 and 2018, submitted, and vetted with robust public engagement encouraged in the process. See details here.
The following resources published by LWVUS can help us in this endeavor.
Redistricting Action Kit. This page is a one-stop-shop for tools and resources related to the League’s work on redistricting: templates, messaging guidance, background materials, etc.
Toward the bottom of that page are links with guidance on giving general testimonies, testimonies for redistricting, and examples of testifying about communities of interest.
