The Dayton
Area League of Women Voters Education Fund supports
our voter service and citizen education activities. It
is a 501(c)(3), nonpartisan, non-profit, educational
organization.
The Education Fund has several purposes:
- To build citizen participation
in the democratic process.
- To study key community issues
at all government levels in an unbiased manner.
- To seek positive solutions to
public policy issues through education and conflict
management.
Voter Service activities of the Dayton
Area League of Women Voters Education Fund include,
but are not limited to:
- Candidate Interviews on Cable
TV -- League volunteers interview state and
local (Montgomery and Greene Counties) candidates. These
programs are produced in cooperation with local
cable stations and televised on cable stations
prior to fall elections.
- Candidate Forums -- League
members organize and moderate candidate information
forums on all levels.
- D-Net: --
This online election information lists candidates
and their positions and ballot issues on your personal
ballot. Post-election results are also available.
- Directory of Public Officials --
Take a look at this popular comprehensive publication
listing all public officials serving
Montgomery and Green County residents with names,
addresses and meeting times and locations.
- Observer Manual --
Use this excellent guide when observing public agencies.
- Educating voters on the use of the new
voting machines in Montgomery and Greene
counties.
- Voter registration and absentee ballot
information -- League members assist by
holding voter registration drives and answering
citizen requests for information called in to the
League office.
- Informational programs on local and national
issues -- League members research and
prepare programs on local and national issues such
as the environment, campaign reform and school
funding.
